Reduced Gravity (0.38g)

"Our bodies evolved for 1g. On Mars, bones dissolve, the heart shrinks, and vision deteriorates permanently."

Key Data

Gravedad 3.72 m/s²
Pérdida Ósea 1.5% mes
Fluido SANS
Músculo Atrofia Rápida

The Hostile Reality

Low gravity tricks the body into thinking it doesn't need a strong skeleton. Calcium salts are lost via urine, causing kidney stones and accelerated osteoporosis. Body fluid floats headward, causing chronic nasal congestion and pressure on eyeballs that can flatten the retina (SANS), causing irreversible farsightedness.

Current Tech (TRL 9)

ARED (ISS): Advanced Resistive Exercise Device. Astronauts must do 2.5 hours of daily exercise lifting weights (simulated by vacuum cylinders) to maintain muscle mass.

Chibis Suits (LBNP): Negative pressure pants that "suck" blood toward the legs to simulate gravity and train the cardiovascular system.

Future Engineering

Short-Radius Centrifuges: Sleeping inside a small spinning centrifuge to simulate 1g at night and "rechange" the skeletal system.

Gene Therapy: Myostatin blockers to induce artificial muscle hypertrophy and prevent atrophy without as much exercise.
